Shock and horror describes best the situation in Bulgary last night. A 35 year old accountant living in Sofia achieved what most perverse criminal minds were trying for centuries: to commit the perfect crime. Using an ordinary kitchen knife, he killed a taxi driver and disappeared from the scene, in that order. Because when the police arrived he was no longer near the victim, the killer has become virtually impossible to identify.
В
Here''s what one of the investigators said: "It seems that this is not a suicide, and the taxi driver was killed by a person other than himself. Think how many people are in this town, is like looking for a needle in a haystack. "
Although most investigators wanted to close this case for and go home, a stubborn police officer took samples and continued his research alone. Arriving at the station, the policeman put on his desk a few samples and began to look at them, although not saying anything.
"The first time I thought: What do I do with all this evidence? Did the killer forgot his ID at the scene?. It could very well belong to anybody else. Why should we put in jail a innocent man? Then, there was a cell phone, perhaps belonging to the killer. Unfortunately, the contacts were coded, not written by they''re real name. Who is Mother? is a code name or something? Anyway, I could not call the killer, because his phone was in our possesion. I had no track. "
In the end, the killer surrenderd on his own initiative to the police. He went to the station, more of pity for the cops, that he watched for hours from across the street, as they struggled to find him.
